Numero due...

January is quickly turning into a logistical nightmare. But for good reason. I got a second interview! But clearly it no longer makes sense to come back here for New Years if I just have to turn around and go home again less than two weeks later. I need to call the admissions office in a bit (because right now it's something like 7am over there, and the chances that the office is open are slim to none...) to sort this out, but there's a chance I may end up staying home until sometime mid-January. Aside from the obvious but rather insignificant hassle it will be to change my plane tickets, it will also make my research plan for January a little sticky. I have a report due and oral exam at the end of January that I need to put together, and I was going to start working on ethical approval to conduct some interviews with whom is yet to be determined (another project for January...). And then of course my birthday is right smack in the middle of all this madness. Hmm... Don't get me wrong, I couldn't be more excited for this interview, and I will do whatever it takes to make it work; it's just making my life a planning nightmare.

That being said, I have more than half of my mid-year report done (2500/3000 words), so over the holiday break I plan to edit that down a bit so that I have enough space to add the things I'm meant to sort out in January (that is, the plan for the rest of my year...). So really it will all be fine. And I met with my supervisor yesterday for a bit over an hour, and we got all excited about how my project is going and started thinking about who we can interview/survey next semester to add some real data to my research. It's really going in all sorts of directions, but at the same time is very focused. It will be interesting to see how everything pieces together when I speak with different people and start writing my thesis this spring.
