Snow!

This weekend, the holiday festivities have started in full swing. There was a small music festival down the street, and all the pubs started selling the warm holiday drinks. The whole town is beautifully decorated. And snow fell last night in a wonderful flurry, however, quickly turned to more of an icy mix before too long. Again, this morning the snow fell, but not much has accumulated. Everything here is that much more enchanting with a light dusting of white...

Unfortunately, I have not yet gotten the chance to really enjoy it, as I am finding myself bogged down with a horrible cold. I felt it coming on a few days ago, and tried to sleep it off, but by yesterday it really got the better of my immune system. And today, I woke up in misery. So I have been sat in bed all day, drinking orange juice, water, and hot chocolate, eating toast, and watching all the Harry Potter movies, inspired by having just seen the latest one at the cinema on Thursday night (good show!). Paracetamol and phenylephrine are my friends (but only if they succeed in getting me better by the end of the weekend!).

I managed to get my research review in by Wednesday night, and met with my supervisor about it on Friday. Things are really picking up (which is why I can't be ill right now!), and I need to start really teasing out what I'm going to be doing for the next few months. In addition to sorting out who I should be interviewing and what I need to say to them (and filling in the ethics forms that go along with that), I also need to prepare for a meeting/conference thing that I'm going to on Tuesday, at which point I'll probably meet a lot of people that I'll be wanting to talk to more thoroughly over the next few months...SO MUCH TO DO. On top of which, I had been planning on grading essays this weekend, which is looking pretty unlikely at this point...bah. It would seem taking 2 days off right now is far less than ideal, but unfortunately necessary and impossible to avoid.
