The view from my balcony

Can't seem to shake this horrendous head cold. I thought I was feeling better yesterday, but by nighttime I was again curled up in bed feeling miserable, and woke up not feeling much better. Since sleeping a good deal and drinking lots of tea and orange juice have not seemed to help, I've gone out and got some more Sudafed and have been eating Halls Soothers like candy. I never used to like Halls cough drops, in fact I hated them, but these fruit soothers are actually really good, and do make my throat feel much better. Peach & Raspberry is my favorite. Do they have "Soothers" in the States or just the normal Halls cough drops? I've never really paid any attention...

Anyway, when I finally managed to get out of bed this morning (only an hour later than usual), it was actually lucky that I hadn't already left (and that I had already gotten out of bed) because the residence manager and two other old Scottish men came to my door so that they could go up on my balcony and fix the TV satellites (I think that's what they were doing anyway?). After they finished, they came back through my room and said they may or may not be back later and left...BUT they left the balcony door open (which had previously been locked and me without a key)! So I took the liberty of taking a wander up there and took a few pictures:

The formerly mysterious door in my room...

Fourth floor windows in the foreground and the Cathedral in the background.

In the distance you can see the clocktower on St Salvatore's quad and the top of Younger Hall (the building with the pillars).

Great view of Jannetta's...must get me some gelato soon! I can't believe I haven't been yet and it's only just across the street.

In any case, it was good I went up on the balcony when I did, because by the time I got back from my hour at the office, the door was locked up again. I've thought about asking for a key, but I have a feeling they'll say no...hmm....
